Sustainable Alberta Association is an Alberta-based non-profit organization established in 1998. Our mission is to create more livable communities by supporting transportation choices through education and engagement. Our flagship program is the National Commuter Challenge (est. 1991). The website www.commuterchallenge.ca (launched in 1999), engages 1700 workplaces that represent over 500,000 employees annually during the week of World Earth Day (June 5th). Over 40,000 employees participate annually across Canada. Commuting by foot, bicycle, bus, train, carpool or telecommute improves the personal, social, environmental and economic health of people and committees. We work out of the historic Old Y Centre at 223 - 12 Ave SW and support interns, practicum and co-op students. We provide a great learning environment for marketing, design, information technology and administrative students. We fund our program through corporate funding, government grants, foundations and fee for service. We provide Consulting services to the corporate sector and government as it relates to Transportation Demand Management and Complete Streets.
