Wirral Youth Zone, named by local young people as ‘The Hive’ is a purpose-built, state of the art, iconic facility for the borough’s young people aged 8 – 19 (and up to age 25 for young people with additional needs), and opened in April 2017. Registered charity number 1163183 The Hive is located on Bright Street, Birkenhead. The facility offers a multitude of activities for young people, including sport, fitness, dance, arts, music, media, enterprise, well-being and self-improvement. The centre boasts a high spec music room, a 4G rooftop pitch, enterprise media suite, climbing wall, multi-use four court sports hall, cafe, dance studio, gym, cooking area, general recreation area and much more. This infrastructure of facilities is based upon the OnSide Youth Facility Zone Model. Access to these fantastic facilities costs just £5 for an annual membership and 50p per visit. The Youth Zone provides a safe environment where young people can come and enjoy themselves, enabling them to raise their aspirations and confidence to create a happier and healthier generation.
