Azim Premji University was established under the Azim Premji University Act 2010 of the Government of Karnataka. Azim Premji Foundation, the sponsoring body set up the University as a fully philanthropic and not-for-profit entity, with a clear social purpose. The University started in 2011 and since then have admitted over 2000 students. Programmes offered- (A) Postgraduate Programmes M.A. Education (2 years) -Broad based programme of study that includes theory, practice, research and planning in Education. M.A. Development (2 years) -The programme aims to prepare individuals capable of informed and thoughtful development action, aware of the complexity, depth and scope of the discourse of development, its ethical imperatives and its implications for policy and action. M.A. Economics (2 years) -Specialisation in Development and Policy LL.M. in Law & Development (1 year) -An intensive and immersive legal education at the intersection of the domains of Law and Development in India. (B) Undergraduate Programmes Stream -1 : 4 year B.A. and B.Sc. Honours in Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities Stream -2 : 4 year B.Sc B.Ed Dual Degree in Science and Education 4 - year Degree (Majors offered) B.Sc. (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Sustainability or Mathematics) B.A. (Economics, English, History, Philosophy or Social Science) Option of Professional Internship or Research in the final year of study. 4 year Dual Degree Science : Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics Education : Perspectives, Pedagogy and Field Practice A 4-year, dual-degree programme in Science and Education leading to a B. Sc B.Ed. Degree. Prepares students to gain deep disciplinary knowledge in the Sciences as well as a practical and professional degree in Education.
