The North Carolina Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Association is a state affiliate of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Association (AACVPR). The NCCRA was founded in 1984 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of reducing disability from cardiovascular and pulmonary disease through education, prevention, rehabilitation, research and disease management. The multidisciplinary organization includes physicians, exercise physiologists, registered nurses, dietitians, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, mental health professionals, and vocational rehabilitation counselors. The NCCRA is committed to improving the quality of life for our patients and their families. Currently, the NCCRA has a membership of over 70 cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs from across North Carolina. Our goal is to provide high quality standards of care to our patients, provide professional education to our members, provide a forum for information exchange among member programs, encourage and coordinate research that will enhance rehabilitation’s impact on the disease process, and increase awareness of cardiovascular and pulmonary disease across the state. The NCCRA is actively involved in the national organization in promoting and negotiating healthcare policies that impact our programs and communities.
