Wandering Roots was inspired by a deep love of movement, creativity and connecting more deeply with ourselves and the places our van has taken us. Roots are the foundation of nature, they are the symbol of stability. As the roots begin to grow down into the earth is when the tree can begin to grow into its full expression. As we both have wandered the world the stability of our moving homes and each other has led us to honor both wandering and the roots that always bring us home. Charlie and Alex, the creative force behind Wandering Roots both grew up in Washington State and find home in the mountains and laughing our way down bump dirt roads. Meeting on the road created a foundation for a love of adventure and a curiosity that led us to living in six vans over four continents. Most recently living in a van in Australia for the entirety of 2019, we’ve learned a few things about nomadic lifestyles. Alex has a deep passion for design and creating spaces where people feel at home and can be expressive in their passions. By consciously creating a small space to be beautiful and functional it allows individuals to explore the uncertainty of the road at peace. Craftsmanship and integrity are the principles by which Charlie builds each aspect of the van. In a world where things are cut and paste together haphazardly, Charlie hopes to showcase the beauty of thoughtfully designed spaces with durability and livability at the forefront. Wandering roots hopes to bring creativity, craftsmanship, and comfort to every one of our designs. We both love what we do and we love where our vans can take us. We can’t wait to bring you to a new home.
