The Rural Renewable Energy Alliance is a grassroots, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting poverty with solar energy. Company Overview: Energy poverty affects more than 30 million households across America. Low-income families have to devote a large percentage of personal income to the basic necessities of heat and power, and are often forced to choose between paying their energy bills and other basic needs like food and housing. Founded by a team of dedicated volunteers in 2000, RREAL is committed to implementing an empowering and sustainable solution to the pervasive problem of fuel poverty by providing families eligible for Federal Energy Assistance with free solar installations. In partnership with state governments, housing and redevelopment authorities, Habitat for Humanity affiliates, RREAL’s Solar Assistance program has provided almost 500 solar systems to low-income households. Programs: Solar Assistance – Fighting Energy Poverty with Solar Power • Provides families eligible for federal energy assistance with free solar installations, supplying them with decades of renewable, domestic energy. Education and Outreach (ECO) • Provides hands on service-learning to learners of all ages in solar energy • In-depth courses and presentations on solar energy technologies for students and community members of all backgrounds as an integral part of making solar energy accessible to everyone Solar-Design Build • Designs and installs solar electric and solar thermal systems for both residential and commercial sector clients • Proceeds support our charitable and education mission
