Luzerne Music Center
www.luzernemusic.orgLuzerne Music Center (LMC) aims to provide world-class music instruction for gifted young musicians ages 9 to 18, regardless of their financial circumstances. Established in 1980 by Philadelphia Orchestra cellist Bert Philips and his wife, Steinway pianist Toby Blumenthal, the founding principles were to train talented student musicians, present professional chamber music, build audiences for the future of classical music and enrich cultural life in the Capital Region of New York. Since inception, LMC has maintained strong relationships with musicians of the Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet, attending their concerts, and inviting them to perform and teach master classes throughout the summer. At LMC, students not only study music through classes, ensembles, and lessons, but get to have the experience of a true summer camp, utilizing our waterfront and participating in enriching group activities. While at camp, each student’s focus remains on excelling as young musicians and growing as people, while benefiting from the unique experience of a summer in the Adirondacks. We focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment, welcoming students from roughly 18 countries around the globe each summer.
