Presenting a variety of comedies, dramas and Broadway musicals each season, the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre showcases outstanding volunteer talent on and off stage. In addition, Fort Wayne Civic Theatre is the proud founder and host of the annual Northeast Indiana Playwright Festival. Civic performances are held at the Arts United Center and the Auer Center ArtsLab, both located downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. A non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, Civic Theatre receives support from grants, sponsorships and donations from individuals and corporations. The mission of the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre is to entertain, enlighten, inspire, educate and enrich the community through quality live theatre." Established in 1927 as the Fort Wayne Community Theatre Guild – the first two productions were "Seven Keys to Baldpate" and "The Charm School". In 1940 the name was changed to the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre and tax-exempt status was awarded. Over the last 87 years, Civic Theatre has performed over 600 productions. Calling on a volunteer base of over 300 individuals, the Civic Theatre stages 5-7 productions each season.
