Specializing in Latin American Constructivism and Geometric Abstraction For twenty years the Cecilia de Torres gallery has promoted Constructivism and Geometric Abstraction from Latin America. We have brought the work of Joaquin Torres-García, his disciples at the "School of the South" and new generations of contemporary abstractionists to international public awareness through exhibitions at the gallery, art fairs and museum shows. Cecilia de Torres opened the gallery in 1993 following her work as co-curator of the successful exhibition, El Taller Torres-García-The School of The South and its Legacy, which was shown in five museums in Europe, the US and Mexico. De Torres is the author of numerous writings on Torres-García and his associated artists, and is currently compiling the Torres-García Catalogue Raisonné. In addition to its work surrounding the legacy of Torres Garcia, the gallery has also introduced other established Latin American artists to New York audiences: León Ferrari, María Freire, César Paternosto, Eduardo Costa, Gerd Leufert, Rogelio Polesello, among others. Emerging gallery artists include: Gustavo Bonevardi, Lidya Buzio, Marta Chilindron, Elias Crespin, Gustavo Díaz, and Jesús Matheus.
