Excelsior Action Group is a volunteer driven, community based organization working to strengthen the Excelsior community through special projects and programs aimed to engage, empower and change our community. Our mission is to work to revitalize the Excelsior's Mission Street commercial district in a way to create a safe, clean, and enjoyable place to live, work, and shop. Since 2002, residents, merchants and community organizations of the Excelsior neighborhood have met in a community-driven action group to strengthen the Mission Street commercial corridor in the Excelsior. We work with residents, merchants, and property owners to prevent blight and to stabilize the Excelsior's economic development. The project is funded by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation , the Office of Economic and Workforce Development and the Mayor's Office of Community Investment. We also collaborate with City agencies and officials to ensure the Excelsior receives its fair share of City resources and services.
