The Council for Canadian Urbanism (CanU) is a movement and organization of city planners, urban designers, architects landscape architects, engineers, developers and other urbanists operating across Canada, in urban design leadership positions within city governments and the private or community sectors. CanU strives to connect urbanists across Canada and has actively promoted the inclusion of all regions with representation in both English and French, in the use of best practices and in sharing experience in the building of great communities. CanU believes in a few Principles for a sustainable and authentic Canadian Urbanism: - The 4 pillars of sustainability - A new Canadian urban model based - Regionalism, diversity and authentic sense of place - Place Making - Flexibility and resilience - Integration - City leadership and community collaboration CanU has established a few objectives for its work: - To Advocate - To Educate - To Communicate and partner - To Lead The Council for Canadian Urbanism is an incorporated not-for profit organization lead by a Board of Directors, has a draft Charter and organizes professional activities including yearly National Summit meetings.
