Sehw is a diverse team of architects with a mission who question common stereotypes, identify new needs of the modern urban society and develop special architectural designs for special uses in special places. Sehw stands for creation of meaning, emotion, attitude and change. Sehw works with self-confidence, empathy, holism and efficacy. Sehw plans serially, efficiently, economically and to a high standard. Sehw has fun, enthusiasm, humour and cosmopolitan attitudes. Sehw is architecture in all its variety. Sehw is architecture as the design of social practice. Consequently, it is not the question of stone or glass, box or blob, metal or wood, straight or curved, that preoccupies us, but rather the constant search for an answer to the question of how we humans will live in the future and how we will implement it in our designs. Founded in 1996, Sehw is now a registered trademark and currently employs around 70 people at various locations. In addition to its original architectural activities, Sehw is also active in general planning, project development and brand strategy consulting. Our focus is on buildings for public use, mostly as a result of preceding architectural competitions, buildings for the real estate industry and projects we initiate ourselves. Several Sehw projects have been awarded architectural prizes. Among these projects are the extension of the Lainz Hospital in Vienna, the teaching building of the Wildau Technical University of Applied Sciences, the building of the Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT in Darmstadt, the Gustav-Heinemann Comprehensive School in Essen and a building for co-living in Berlin, to name but a few.
