Calgary’s youth are improving our world one science fair project at a time – from reducing potential environmental toxins and wondering if butterflies see colour to exploring safer travel with adaptive wheels – and they need your support! The Calgary Youth Science Fair (CYSF) helps students discover passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The CYSF is one of the largest science fairs in Canada with almost 1000 grade 5-12 students from across Calgary converging to share the results of their project-based inquiries into science and technology. These students present to over 550 judges from the Calgary industry and academic communities as well as members of the public and their peers. The CYSF serves to encourage students to explore science and technology and provides them with the opportunity to interact with their peers and to be recognized for their efforts and accomplishments. Did you know that the Calgary Youth Science Fair is completely volunteer-run, and relies solely on funding from individual donors, corporate sponsors and fundraising initiatives without any financial support from the school boards? The CYSF is dedicated to supporting and recognizing Calgary students’ pursuit of STEM through the lens of the scientific method. Participants in the CYSF not only gain a deeper understanding of these principles, they also develop friendships that can last a lifetime. You can catalyze change!
