Africa MICE Summit

The Africa MICE Summit was conceptualized in 2017 to address an evident gap in intra-continental dialogue aimed at developing the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) Sector in Africa. In 2018, the 1st Global MICE Summit (as it was then named) was held in Nairobi, Kenya bringing together delegates from 6 countries in the region. The Summit featured high-level panel discussions on the theme “Leveraging Sustainable MICE Practices for Economic Development in Africa”. Alongside the conference was an exhibition and demo sessions showcasing innovations and eco-friendly solutions that are driving forward Africa’s Meetings & Events industry. During the 2nd annual MICE Summit held on 9-11th September 2019, the Africa MICE Awards were held for the 1st time in Nairobi. The Awards which attracted hundreds of nominations from across Africa, were a celebration of talent, innovation, commitment and impact which characterizes the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions industry in Africa. The Africa MICE Summit is an ideal platform for constructive dialogue between stakeholders to promote the growth opportunities available for MICE development in various African countries, explore innovations and showcase ongoing trade and investments in the Meetings & Events Industry. In 2020 in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic, the Africa MICE Summit hosted a Continental Stakeholders Forum bringing together industry players and stakeholders under the theme “Forecasting Ahead: Africa’s MICE Industry Post 2020”. Until the COVID 19 pandemic, the economic impact of business tourism went unnoticed or ignored by most African destinations. The pandemic has provided a business case for African countries to re-align their business tourism agenda in their national development plans in recognition of the impact that the MICE industry has on our people, communities and economies. The 2021 Africa MICE Summit & Awards will be held on 9th September, 2021.
