Institute of Youth Development and Excellence (IYDE)
www.iyde.orghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3dOspld6cs All young people are capable of achieving their goals and succeeding in life while positively and actively contributing to society. However, not all young people get the support they need to help them reach those goals and make a positive change within their communities. All communities have youth, and all deserve an opportunity to achieve excellence, whether they are privileged, at risk, face personal challenges or are "troubled." Mentoring programs can help ALL young people, no matter their background, and trained mentors are significantly more effective than untrained mentors. The Institute of Youth Development and Excellence (IYDE) helps communities across the country build long-term mentoring programs for youth that will guide and support them through year-round activities and events. The mentoring does not stop at the end of an event or activity. It is a sustainable and guiding friendship with long-term, positive results. IYDE mentors receive about 70 hours of training, over four weekends of interactive mentor training with scenarios and role-playing activities as well as weekly or bi-weekly support. IYDE encourages all mentors to be certified in First Aid and CPR, giving an all-encompassing interactive skill set needed to handle a variety of youth personalities and situations. Our mission is to assist communities in developing an increased capacity to establish and maintain youth development programs, based on trained mentorship and positive character development. IYDE develops effective and efficient mentoring programs and methods that create positive character changes in youth in communities across the country. We help communities overcome typical challenges faced by starting, developing and maintaining effective youth programs with a customized turn-key solution. Visit www.iyde.org for more information on how your community can develop mentors from within, in order to guide and support the next generation.
