The GES is the professional body for economists in the UK civil service. We represent over 4000 professional economists across more than 30 government departments, devolved administrations, and agencies. Our aim is to ensure that policy is informed by the best possible economic analysis, delivered by the best possible economists. Our economists work across the span of government: from macroeconomic modelling, competition policy, international financial issues, labour market trends, taxation, housing benefits, local government finance, to public health and criminal justice.
