Humber Arboretum & Centre for Urban Ecology

www.humber.ca

The Humber Arboretum offers 100 hectares (nearly 250 acres) of public gardens and natural areas connected to Humber College North Campus. Located in the Humber River watershed in North Etobicoke, the Humber Arboretum exists as a unique tri-partnership between Humber College, the City of Toronto, and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). The Humber Arboretum is free to visit and open to the general public. A variety of educational programming is offered out of the LEED Gold Certified Centre for Urban Ecology, including nature camps, bird walks, and regular gardening workshops. For Humber College students, the Humber Arboretum offers a variety of high-quality on-campus work opportunities, plus the Learning by Leading(TM) service learning experience. For Humber College staff, the Arboretum offers excellent spaces for outdoor learning and the expertise to help you connect nature and sustainability to your research projects and academic plans. In the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan, the Humber Arboretum identified three priorities: THRIVING NATURE Through our integration of protection, care, and community engagement, we bolster the health of our ecosystems and natural inhabitants. HEALTHY COMMUNITIES Through our strong partnerships and contributions to bettering the socio-economic determinants of health, we advance community health and well-being. WORLD-READY CITIZENS Through our leadership in nature-based experiential learning, we develop global citizens with the mindsets, knowledge, and skills to support their success and well-being and the health of the planet.
