The Foothills Hockey Association is an organization in the southwest Denver, Colorado metro area that manages a youth hockey program. FHA is a member of the Colorado Competitive Youth Hockey League (CCYHL) under the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA). Under the direction of an all volunteer Board of Directors, Foothills Hockey offers opportunities for children ages 18 & Under in Competitive Travel Hockey programs. We strive to offer a rewarding hockey experience for the players and members and to develop better people on and off the ice. FHA promotes an environment in which the players learn the fundamentals of the game and can grow to his or her abilities. For age groups 9 and over, membership in FHA is granted through a competitive tryout process. All prospective members are invited to participate in tryouts which are conducted in August - September (Age level based) of each year. For age groups 8 and under, membership in FHA is granted based on basic skills and openings. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any question you may have in regards to youth hockey. FHA embraces the American Development Model (ADM) which provides age-appropriate guidelines and curriculum to hockey associations across America to help more kids play, love and excel in hockey. Brought to you by USA Hockey, in partnership with the NHL. FHA adopted ADM at the U8 level beginning with the 2010 - 2011 hockey season. FHA supports the ADM program and firmly believes that our U8 players are already beginning to show the benefits of the program. FHA also began instituting ADM practices on a weekly basis for Squirt travel teams in 2010 - 2011 and plans to expand these skates to encompass additional age levels as well.
