Indian Oiltanking is a joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation, India’s largest Oil and Gas Company, and Oiltanking GmbH, Germany, one of the world’s leading independent tank terminalling companies. Indian Oiltanking provides Infrastructure-led Terminalling Services to Petroleum, Petrochemical and Chemical companies in India, and has pioneered Independent Terminalling services in India way back in 1996. Over the past 22 years, Indian Oiltanking has evolved into an integrated services provider with niche capabilities in Engineering, Build Capabilities, Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of Storage Terminals. Currently, Indian Oiltanking is operating six terminals in India through various business models including BOO/BOOT (Build, Own, Operate/Transfer) and O&M. Indian Oiltanking brought the concept of independent terminalling in India for Petroleum products, wherein the operator does not own the product and provides services to users on a common user basis. Indian Oiltanking has pioneered the concepts of ‘Build & Own’ (BO), ‘Build Own Operate’ (BOO), BOO & Transfer (BOOT), Operations & Maintenance of third party terminals in India. Indian Oiltanking has also set up a first-of-its kind crude oil and petroleum product storage BOOT project inside Indian Oil Corporation’s refinery at Paradip on India’s East Coast, wherein the entire offsite storage of crude and finished products has been built by IOT. IOT’s unique value proposition to customers in India bringing is globally benchmarked industry practices and HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) practices which are derived from the vast knowledgebase and experience of Oiltanking gained over decades through operations in several continents. Indian Oiltanking has demonstrated capabilities in alternate fuels at its biogas plant at Namakkal (Tamilnadu), as an early responder to the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas initiative for alternate fuels to fulfill India’s demand for transportation needs.
