warszawianka.uw.edu.plThe Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of University of Warsaw "Warszawianka" is a representative group of the biggest Polish university – University of Warsaw. There are nearly 100 students and graduates of all faculties dancing, singing and playing instruments in WARSZAWIANKA. During various tourneys the group participated in a variety of international folk festivals in France, Spain, Greece, Holland, Canada, Germany, the USA, Turkey, Hungary, Great Britain, Italy and Israel receiving hot welcome and organizers’ high notes everywhere. WARSZAWIANKA performed hundreds of concerts on great and small stages of all the world presenting its dance, vocal and instrumental repertoire, which comprised all Polish national dances and regional suites of Rzeszów, Podlasie, Kaszuby, Opoczno, Powiśle Lubelskie, Silesian Beskid, a scenic picture of mid-war period Warsaw and theatrical shows thematically connected with Christmas and Easter, The group has also prepared many occasional and educational programs for students. WARSZAWIANKA proves that folklore can be an uncommon history lesson as well as fun and entertainment.
