Beauty salons don’t have to be ‘stuffy’ or pretentious anymore – whatever happened to good old-fashioned service with a little bit of fun thrown in for good measure? When Amy started Mooeys, she wanted to create a sociable environment where people felt comfortable and taken care of – all while getting a lovely jubbly treatment. And that’s exactly what she did! We’ll take care of the rest… Where it all started Our ‘Head Wench’, and all-round incredible boss lady, Amy has been working in the beauty industry for quite some time now in various different roles – from cosmetic counters and regular small salons to managing spas on board cruise ships and, finally, in Center Parcs. She says: “I always knew that I wanted my own business but wanted to learn what I could from others first before having my own. I am very passionate about the industry and the two things I love doing more than anything are nails and waxing – believe it or not! “Waxing is one of those treatments where you really need to get on well with and trust the therapist. I find this the easiest part of my job as I love a good gas, but I am also a total perfectionist – which means you get a great treatment, and a decent natter in one! “With the nails, there is nothing better than having lovely nails. It’s a real affordable treat – a little bit of luxury that all women deserve to have at least once a month. Having your cuticles worked on, nails shaped and polished and a little hand massage at the end Is a great way to spend your time. “Both of these treatments need to be done well and as a client, you deserve it to be done brilliantly – so that is where Mooeys started.”
