The formation of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Pipe Band was officially authorized by Sheriff Laurie Smith of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office on December 5, 2011. The Band, based in San Jose, CA, represents the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office in various events throughout Northern California year-round. The band prides itself on performing at various community activities throughout the Bay Area. Over the past few years, the band has averaged over 45 performance events per year. The band was originally formed in 2001 as the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Pipes and Drums. The band has a current membership of 20+ musicians. Volunteers range in age from 14 to 75. The band has been actively competing in WUSPBA-sanctioned events in Grade V since 2019.
