Founded in 1911 by the Christian Brothers, St Virgil's College in 2011 celebrated its Centenary with a year filled with events and activities that commemorated the College's rich history and traditions whilst reinforcing the key tenets of a Catholic boys school in the Edmund Rice tradition. St Virgil’s caters for boys from Grade 3 to 10. We offer a high quality, engaging and contemporary education for more than 750 boys aged from 8 to 16. Grade 3-6 is located at our Patrick St campus in the Hobart CBD. Grade 7-10 is on our 70 acre campus at Austins Ferry which features natural bushland and stunning views across the Derwent River and to kunanyi (Mt Wellington). We understand boys and help shape their journey to becoming good men of faith, community, justice and respect through academic endeavour and participation in the arts, community service, environmental action, sporting pursuits and outdoor adventures. At St Virgil’s College our motto “by deeds, not words” challenges all members of the College community never to settle for mere words when there is good we can do. We encourage you to visit our school and witness first hand the exciting opportunities available to boys at St Virgil's College.
