‘ANTIGONE – Centre on Information and Documentation on Racism, Ecology, Peace and Non-Violence’ is an independent social non-profit organization with its basis in Thessaloniki and offices in Athens. It was found with the initiative of Ecological Movement of Thessaloniki and since 1993 it is activated in issues concerning racism, discrimination, human rights, social ecology, peace and non-violent resolution of conflicts. With the important participation of several members, volunteers and supporters, has developed during all these years a big variety of activities, inspired by a collective and holistic vision for people, society and world. The purpose of ANTIGONE consists in the creation of a truly democratic, open society, which through the cultivation of global values such as freedom and human decency , equal opportunities for all will be ensured, without any discrimination on the ground of sex, race, ethnic origin, social/economic/cultural level, disability, age, religion, etc. Through its action, based on solidarity and active participation, it also aims to inform and raise awareness of a great part of society in issues of non -discrimination, human rights, ecology, non-violence and interculturalism, by motivating the redefinition of social values and priorities towards a social, ecological and solidary direction. In this way we believe that people can live with a sense of equality and social responsibility, by contributing to a society that is capable of ensure an adequate living standard and quality of life for all.
