Fondazione Theodora Onlus brings music, magic, fun and laughter to children in hospital through weekly visits from clown doctors, professional artists trained to work in the hospital environment. A stay in hospital can be a daunting time for a child; away from home and the people they love. Imagine their delight when a clown doctor transforms the ward into a magical play space. Clown doctors wait to be invited by the child before proceeding, ensuring that the child is not confined to the role of spectator but can participate in the magic and the activities. Their clowning skills are tailored to each individual’s needs. Staff tell us that the feeling of a hospital changes once we start visiting. Future visits are eagerly anticipated to add stimulation in what can be an anxious environment.
