Haworth Scouring was founded in 1966 in Haworth, UK. In 1998, Haworth Scouring moved 14 miles to its current location today on a purpose built 8 acre site in the heart of the textile industry in the UK. Haworth scouring is one of the largest capacity duel set wool scours in the world. The two sets can scour up to 1,000 tonnes per week and can scour wool comfortably at a rate of 3.5 tonnes per hour. In addition to this high technology scouring process, the site also features a state of the art effluent treatment plant. In 2002, Curtis Wool Direct purchased a 50% shareholding in Haworth Scouring and Haworth Combing companies and six years later acquired the remaining 50% to take full ownership of both companies. One year later in 2009, Curtis Wool Direct acquired Enco Global testing. Curtis Wool Direct have invested heavily into all areas of the site, maintaining Haworth Scouring as a world leader in wool processing whilst adhering to more stringent regulations in relation to effluent and maintaining its excellent ‘green’ credentials. A multi-million GBP investment in state of the art Schlumberger Era combing machinery was completed in late 2017 giving Haworth Combing the capacity to produce up to 150,000kgs wool tops per week and to comb wools from 22µm – 40µm. At the same time, Enco Global Testing has purchased modern equipment able to detect the smallest qualities of compounds found in effluents not solely related to the Textile Industry but all sectors of business where environmental waste is a concern. The Haworth site is state of the art, producing high quality scoured wool, wool tops and a vast array of environmental and textile related testing requirements.
