Wraparound Health was founded by Jen Knodle, combining her 15 years in the medical field and her experience as a Nurse Practitioner with her 20 years as a patient learning how to advocate for herself through kidney cancer, breast cancer, abdominal tumors, trauma, and surgeries. She recognized the importance of the patient needing to have a voice and speaking for themselves. She has brought together the Wraparound Health team with the mission to help as many people as possible find their voice and receive the healthcare they need. Wraparound Health provides self-advocacy coaching through an interdisciplinary approach that includes wraparound support from a Nurse Navigator, Personal Pharmacist, and research team, while clients follow accompanying modules. We do not provide medical care, diagnosis, or treatment. We provide education to the client to assist them in communicating with their healthcare team. Through our program, the clients become educated about their health conditions, as well as how to understand the health information that is being shared with them by their medical providers. Clients also learn how to recognize and evaluate health information from other sources for validity and decide whether it is applicable to their individual medical situation. With a better understanding of their health situation, clients can confidently engage in conversation with their medical providers, making medical appointments more efficient and productive. As a team, the patient and medical provider can then determine whether treatments are aligned with the patient's self-determined health and life goals.
