Baglio Assuli lies in the midst of land belonging to the Caruso family, a splendid area of countryside in a property of over 120 hectares. Assuli ("In the sunshine" in Sicilian dialect), is the result of the patient, painstaking restoration of an old 18th century baglio (farm with a courtyard at its center), respecting the original criteria of a building with the requirements of functionality and economic efficiency, and it has allowed the Carusos to take their family history a step further. By uniting the commercial strength of a large international group with a prestigious and unique outstanding local product, the third generation of the family - Roberto, Nicoletta and Michele – is now leading the company towards new goals, transferring into the bottle age-old expertise that translates into wines that are absolutely genuine and of unmistakable personality. Assuli embodies completely the principle of identity of the territory of origin, by promoting the production of Sicilian wines that contain the wealth of aromas that render this island unique. In fact, the indigenous varieties develop an intimate rapport with the terroir, adapting to it and nourishing themselves on its particular characteristics. Tradition is combined with modern vinification techniques that enhance the wines’ power of expression, thus obtaining from the local varieties ever greater quality whilst remaining faithful to outstanding wine production methods. The wines, all produced from organically grown grapes, display great character and personality, bucking the global trend of homogenizing tastes.
