DREEAM is not just a department - it's a way of thinking. DREEAM is headed by Professor Frank Coffey. DREEAM was created as a single team with research and education functions and had an inter-professional focus from the start. We incorporate research into our educational work and ultimately into clinical practice. We promote and enable inter-professional collaborative education so that we create teams that work as teams to optimise patient care in our ED. We began as a research team embedded within ED in 2004. We have since created a joint teaching and research facility still adjacent to ED, to increase this close engagement with clinical staff. This proximity directly supports research recruitment and enables DREEAM to respond to the education needs of our large multi-professional workforce. We have won a reputation for delivering high quality bespoke educational programmes to healthcare professionals in the pre-hospital and hospital arena. This now also extends into the wider community where we work with schools, leisure facilities and the military amongst many other groups.
