Clarus is an organization of compassionate healthcare professionals whose expertise is navigating healthcare to create individualized care plans for people in late senescence. When Clarus is entrusted with a life, it is aligned with a partnership that emphasizes person-centered health solutions, rather than profit-centered systems. Our focus is care that best serves an individual's definition of quality by aligning services coordination with their stated goals. Clarus has found that although the lack of awareness of late senescence is widespread in the provider community, there are some providers who are both aware and accepting of this problem and have developed clinical behaviors to more effectively care for this population. We have found these providers and modeled our program after their successful behaviors. Simply stated, the most successful provider behaviors includes re-focusing attention away from the multiple clinical diagnoses towards the person, re-balancing the plan of care towards one that is predominantly palliative in nature. By putting the patient first, Clarus is able to substantially reduce medical costs and bolster patient satisfaction. Clarus is not aspirational—it is a definitive step toward restoring the respect patients and caregivers deserve when confronting late senescence in an open, healthy way. With Clarus, there are real people making tangible differences to restore awareness to the type of care that empowers a person to live life on their own terms.
