The Canadian Condominium Institute is an independent, non-profit organization formed in 1982 with chapters throughout Canada. It leads the National Condominium industry by providing education, information, awareness and access to expertise by and for its members, and serves as a clearing house and research centre on condominium issues and activities across the country. CCI also provides objective research for practitioners and government agencies regarding all aspects of condominium operations. The Vancouver Chapter of CCI was formed in September of 2002 knowing the fact that many strata councils underestimate the complexity of running a corporation; particularly ones in Greater Vancouver that may have assets and liabilities into the many millions of dollars. It is important to understand the Strata Property Act and that information and training are keys if a strata corporation is to be managed properly.
