Florida Virtual Campus Library Services
libraries.flvc.orgThe Library Services Unit of the Florida Virtual Campus provides services, support, and resources for the libraries of our state’s public colleges and universities. We work behind the scenes to help ensure that Florida’s students have the tools and information they need to succeed. In all, FLVC serves 40 institutions and more than 150 campus libraries. Our products and services are available to nearly 1.3 million students, faculty, and staff. Key services include: management and maintenance of a statewide collection of online journals, e-books, and other valuable e-resources; support for open educational resources and digital collections; a shared catalog of library holdings, enabling students to search for materials owned by any state college or university; a sophisticated integrated library system; procurement of e-resources for individual institutions through group licensing; training and consultation for library staff; and a statewide Help Desk providing user and technical support for our services. FLVC is operated under the Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC) which is an affiliate of Florida State University. Funding for FLVC is provided by the State of Florida through appropriations to the Florida Post-secondary Academic Library Network (FPALN). Our staffers have a variety of backgrounds — in library science, information technology, education, communication, and other fields.
