Amber Foundation

www.amberweb.org

Amber provides a safe temporary place to live for unemployed homeless young people, helping them to address any issues they may have, and providing practical and emotional support for the young people to transform their lives. We focus on employment, living independently, health & wellbeing and personal development. 103,000 young people are homeless in the UK and once homeless it can be very difficult to find a job and move back into accommodation. Amber provides a safe structured environment at Amber’s 3 residential centres in Surrey, Devon and Wiltshire that gives the young people the time, space and support to sort out their problems and re-build their lives. The ultimate aim is to give the young people the social, emotional, educational and practical tools required to find direction in life, work, accommodation and a sense of their own self-worth in the community, allowing them to move back into employment, eductation or training. Being residential is key, providing a supportive and encouraging environment with structure and boundaries, positive peer support and practical activities so young people can overcome their problems and feel valued and motivated as they work at turning their lives around – and 80% successfully do so.
