For the world to mitigate the dangers presented by climate change, immediate action is needed to reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Industrial production of carbon dioxide is the primary driver of global warming. Increasing regulatory and shareholder pressure will see CO2 emitters paying to dispose of emissions in a way that demonstrates permanent sequestration. While only 3 of Australia’s top 22 CO2 emitters have a detailed strategy to support non-energy-based emissions reduction (e.g., CCS), over 80% are undertaking activities, demonstrating their need to address abatement limitations. Over half of these companies are implementing carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies or investing in their development. The Sea-Quester Carbon Harvester concept creates a step-change in development and operational economics for offshore carbon geo-sequestration, providing an accelerated path to positive climate action.
