Merenkävijät ry is an active yacht club located in the heart of Helsinki. Founded in 1922, the yacht club has a long history of advocating sailing in the capital region. Annually we organize sailing courses from beginners to more experienced sailors, and offers weekly training sessions for our members. The club is home to more than 800 sailors and 160 boats, we welcome anyone interested in sailing to take part in our beginner courses. The yacht club is located in the southernmost part of Helsinki, on the island of Särkkä. Part of the Unesco World Heritage site Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, the marina and the boatyard are protected by 18th century fortifications. Särkkä is its own separate island and you can visit it by taking a few minute ferry ride from our pier located at Ehrenströmintie 3. We also have berths in the marina for visiting vessels, so if you’re planning to visit the Helsinki region with your boat, we are happy to offer our services. Särkkä is located at N60°9', E24°58'.
