bcgc.berkeley.eduThe Berkeley Center for Green Chemistry catalyzes the production of safer products, and in the process, establishes the next generation of knowledgeable and engaged green chemistry innovators. EDUCATION The Berkeley Center for Green Chemistry (BCGC) brings together the College of Chemistry, School of Public Health, School of Engineering and Haas School of Business to operate as an epicenter of green chemistry education and collaboration. Our pioneering course, Greener Solutions, partners interdisciplinary groups of graduate students with stakeholders who want to make products safer. Many of the top students in this course go on to participate in our Greener Partnerships internship program, where they continue to work in the field of green chemistry while gaining industry knowledge. INNOVATION We support innovative research focused on safer, more efficient chemical processes and materials, as well as new approaches to toxicity testing, exposure analysis and alternatives assessment. OUTREACH Our events bring together engaged stakeholders from industry, academia, government and NGOs who are interested in green chemistry innovation. We also provide technical support to policy-makers, workers, community organizations and businesses working to make their product, process or workplace safer through green chemistry.
