Dankind Academy
www.dankindacademy.comDankind Academy is a humanitarian project in Kampala, Uganda using basketball as a vehicle for progress in East Africa. Our goal is to train, mentor and educate athletes to become charitable, professional basketball players who are also role models and responsible for uplifting and constructing in their communities in order to benefit the next generation. The academy was originally based in Nairobi, Kenya and established in 2012. Since the first of two very successful year when the boys lived in a house together, trained every week and were crowned Nairobi Basketball Association Champions many have acquired scholarships to continue their higher education in the USA, Spain, Japan and Uganda with hopes of going Pro. The sponsorship money for the academy is used to provide the following : - 2 daily 3 hour training sessions 4 days a week. - 3 weekly weight training sessions. - Video analysis sessions. - 2 - 3 league and friendly games per week (with highlights posted online) - Online Education 4 days a week. (US system and SAT/ACT prep courses) - 3 meals a day, everyday. - Accommodation (Including a cleaner, cook, electricity, water, showers and bedrooms) - Experienced and strict coaching staff. The goal of the academy is to train players to become professional basketball players in leagues all around the world as well as role models dedicating 10 percent of their salaries in the future to not only keep the academy running but also to provide the following benefits for the next generation in their own developing nations: - Building perpetually energised homes - Investing in solar panels - Building schools, hospitals, water pumps, libraries and basketball courts - Establishing coaching and referee clinics - Establishing, promoting & funding leagues - Coaching at summer basketball camps - Motivational public speaking
