Floodplain Collective

www.floodplaincollective.com

The mission of floodplain collective is to drive equitable engagement and design that champions the ideas of communities and the environment they live in. Our practice is founded on engagement techniques that respond to cultural influences, leverage environmental change, and illuminate traditionally underrepresented voices. We partner with residents, organizations, and practitioners to translate, envision, and implement artistic design solutions that expand community involvement, transform the public realm, improve quality of life for all. We work at the confluence of ecology, equity, and engagement. Floodplain Collective is a Women-Owned Business and a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise. As emerging landscape designers, experienced artists, and involved community members, we have the ability to easily translate across professional sectors, generations, and social circles. We offer a combination of artistic nuance, technical skill and social empowerment not frequently found in traditional design firms or community planning organizations. Our ability to connect to others, listen, and design activities that allow individuals and communities to tell their ideas and stories, informs the planning process and delivers products that reflect the needs of our clients. We research, identify, analyze and recommend unforeseen opportunities for the communities we work with, and our unique combination of skills to create meaningful, effective, and innovative ways of engaging stakeholders and eliciting project feedback. Recent projects have leveraged our: • Arts-based engagement activities that attract a wide variety of stakeholders • Ability to reach out to community members disconnected from the typical meeting setting • Strong planning and design process experience • Fresh perspective as young female leaders in the community • Large professional network of public art colleagues
