Harvard GSAS Student Council (GSC)

gsc.fas.harvard.edu

The GSAS Student Council (GSC) advocates for, supports, and recognizes students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) at Harvard University in academic, administrative, and residential matters. Through monthly Open Meetings, the GSC brings together students across disciplines in order to raise matters of mutual concern. We provide a medium for graduate students and administrators to have meaningful dialogue about the issues that shape the graduate experience at Harvard. Additionally, we award grants for travel and research, fund GSAS student groups and organizations, and sponsor student-led Mini-Courses during January@GSAS. Each year, we also celebrate and highlight student leaders and faculty who positively impact the graduate student experience. Representatives to the Council are highly motivated individuals who are elected from within their department or program to speak and vote on behalf of their constituents. However, anyone can attend our Open Meetings to form student groups, initiate referenda, and join committees. During the 2019-2020 academic year, the GSC will take up issues including mental health; diversity, inclusion, and accessibility; mentorship and advising; teaching and training; and professional development. If you want to have an active role in shaping the graduate student experience at Harvard, we call on you to add your voice to the GSC in 2019-2020.
