Selling her artisanal breads based on locally grown wheat at farmers markets and produce stands, founder Carissa Waechter quickly gained a following on the East End of Long Island. In 2017, Carissa partnered with Lori Chemla to expand the business and open Carissa's the Bakery at 68 Newtown Lane in East Hampton. After three busy years it was time to expand to a second location. Carissa's 221 Pantigo Road location opened in the Summer of 2019 as a 75 seat cafe, restaurant and bakery with a focus on locally-sourced produce from its long-standing partners on the East End. The sunny cafe serves breads, pastries, sandwiches, fresh juices alongside a menu of simple, nutritious food for breakfast and lunch, and weekend dinners by candlelight.
