www.buildingsmartkorea.org∴ WHO WE SERVE ∴ As a not-for-profit and industry-lead association, all engagement undertaken by buildingSMART Korea supports the collective voice of the industry. The association operates according to the directives laid forth by its extensive Board of Directors. The board is comprised of more than 170 cross-industry representatives. For the past 20 years, buildingSMART Korea has continuously served the government and the industry as one of Korea’s most trusted advisers and activators of BIM. Since 2013, the association has been involved as the managing entity of several comprehensive R&D projects, at a combined funding budget upwards of USD +20 million. Collectively our programs drive the development and active use of open internationally-recognised standards, applications, training and certification procedures. This helps to support the wider uptake of BIM throughout the built environment in Korea as well as overseas. ∴ WHAT WE DO ∴ buildingSMART Korea is one of the largest and must influential chapters (domestically) of the international alliance, with a dedicated team of 15 staff. We are leading the digital transformation domestically by enabling better collaboration and digital workflows through the productive solutions and open standards we develop. Digital workflows help the industry collaborate and communicate efficiently throughout all phases of a building’s life-cycle. Digital workflows are particular critical in projects involving many disciplines, software applications, and organisations, who must collaborate and exchange information efficiently to achieve success. An interconnected digital environment that is based on interoperable, open and international standards for BIM, transcends the traditional fractured design and construction processes and unlocks substantial benefits for all project stakeholders.
