IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE is the trusted “voice” for engineering, computing and technology information around the globe. The full name of the IEEE is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., although the organization is referred to by the letters I-E-E-E and pronounced Eye-triple-E. Through its global membership, the IEEE is a leading authority on areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics among others. Members rely on the IEEE as a source of technical and professional information, resources and services. To foster an interest in the engineering profession, the IEEE also serves student members in colleges and universities around the world. Other important constituencies include prospective members and organizations that purchase IEEE products and participate in conferences or other IEEE programs. The student branch is the IEEE organization for students and undergraduates. IEEE University of Moratuwa Student Branch has been founded in 2008 and since then been the one of most performing student branch of IEEE Sri Lanka section and in IEEE Region 10 while having 5 student branch chapters and Women In Engineering affinity group. Those student branch chapters are Industry Applications Society, Power and Energy Society, Robotics And Automation Society, Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society and Computer Society. Many sectional and regional level volunteers are developed in here legacy is continued by achieving awards and recognitions.
