DISruptive POLymer TEChnologies has developed enabling technology for producing vinyl polymers with compositional and architectural control, regulators used therein and polymers so obtainable. Key advantages include: • Regulators claimed do not significantly raise the cost of polymer to be produced; they are made at a fraction of the cost of regulator systems currently available • They overcome the principle limitation of Nitroxide-Mediated Polymerization (NMP), i.e. they effectively suppress termination and successfully control homopolymerization of methacrylics • Suppressing termination facilitates running processes semi-continuously at high instantaneous conversion, as is mandatory in the multi-purpose batch plant setting of specialty vinyl polymer manufacturers • In contrast to state-of-art Controlled Radical Polymerization (CRP), a facile transition into aqueous phase dispersed systems is achieved, as has been demonstrated in suspension and mini-emulsion • Polymers are ready-to-use / ready-to-formulate: no post-polymerization modification is needed Dispoltec is searching for partners to implement the technology industrially; for manufacturing regulators a partnership is being established with one of the world’s leading suppliers of polymerization initiators.
