„We will organize a race in Prague like it is in New York,“ say two Italian friends, Carlo Capalbo and Olympic gold medalist Gelindo Bordin, in a Prague pub Cibulka. After the third beer, they called legendary Emil Zátopek. Since then, the Volkswagen Prague Marathon exists. During the 25 years of its existence, the organizers added a 10 km race - Birell Grand Prix Prague, five half marathons in various cities of the Czech Republic, a three-day long event O2 Prague Relay and in 2018 a new Liberec Nature Run.
