Utah Department of Corrections
corrections.utah.govAs one of the State’s largest agencies, we are constantly on the lookout for high-character people who want to make a difference in our communities. If you are someone who is attracted to law enforcement but wants a more hands-on career, please consider us! Few careers in public safety can match the wide variety of experiences available at the Utah Department of Corrections. Opportunities for Correctional Officers range from working for the Division of Institutional Operations, which provides security at the two state prisons, to working for Adult Probation and Parole, which supervises more than 17,000 offenders in the community. A brief overview of each division: The Division of Prison Operations provides general security for the Utah State Prison and the Central Utah Correctional Facility. Officers also may be involved in inmate work programs, educational programs, Culinary, transportation, medical, inmate release, etc. Adult Probation and Parole agents work directly with offenders who are on probation or parole in the community. They monitor compliance with conditions set by the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole and work with offenders to help them become law-abiding members of the community. Our Programming Division employees help inmates develop Case Action Plans that provide a blueprint for what they need to accomplish while incarcerated. Not interested in being a Correctional Officer? We have many positions for Utahns with other skills and interests, — from nurses to electricians, accountants, researchers and executive assistants. Most of our jobs offer a full State benefits package, including health insurance, paid holidays, paid vacations and retirement savings.
