Maspeth Town Hall is a thriving community center providing a variety of educational, cultural and recreational services. OUR MISSION Maspeth Town Hall is dedicated to serving the families of Maspeth and our neighboring communities in more ways than one. We serve families from all ethnic backgrounds and economic statuses and offer educational, cultural and recreational programs year round at Town Hall and throughout Queens. We are very proud of our professional staff and volunteers, and the work that is done to better the community. OUR COMMUNITY STORY In 1898, the Brinkerhoff School, now Maspeth Town Hall, was built on 72nd Street. The one-and-a-half story wooden schoolhouse was built on land given by the Brinkerhoff Family, early Dutch settlers of Queens County. The Brinkerhoff School served the newest section of the village of Maspeth until 1932, when its students were transferred to the new school, I.S. 73 built on a nearby site. Twice abandoned, the building fell into a state of deterioration. Concerned citizens, under the leadership of Marge Markey formed a coalition of private, business and government interests to save the historic structure. Maspeth Town Hall is now a thriving community center providing a variety of services including Universal Pre-K, Mommy & Me Toddler groups, Teen Drama Club, Children's Art Classes, After School Programs, Summer Camp, Senior classes in Art, Chair Yoga and Tai Chi and more cultural and recreational activities. Maspeth Town Hall continues to grow due to the love, support, and time given by so many over the past thirty years. We serve families from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, regardless of their economic status. We are proud of our professional staff and very appreciative of the dedicated volunteers who work together for the good of the community! BECOME A YOUTH COUNSELOR Maspeth Town Hall's After School Program is growing rapidly and we are hiring new Youth Counselors on a rolling basis.
