Sociedade Portuguesa de Química (SPQ) was founded on December 28, 1911. The Company must establish a center for frank and cordial discussion that encourages and promotes contact between their members in order to contribute to the development of research and better teaching of chemistry. The SPQ also ensures the representation of Portugal in various international organizations. In particular, the SPQ maintains the representation of Portugal in the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), for the GRICES delegation. Other representations for SPQ secured include: International Chemistry Olympiads, European Association for Chemistry and Molecular Sciences (EuCheMS) and European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Sociedade Portuguesa de Química (SPQ) foi fundada em 28 de Dezembro de 1911. A Sociedade deve constituir um centro de debate franco e cordial que estimule e promova o contacto entre os seus membros de forma a contribuir para o desenvolvimento da investigação e para um melhor ensino da Química. É este objectivo que todas as Direcções da SPQ e todos os seus sócios têm perseguido. Desde 1978 a Sociedade organiza bianualmente um Congresso Nacional em que participam centenas de químicos portugueses e estrangeiros assim como congressos temáticos das suas divisões e grupos. A SPQ assegura igualmente a representação de Portugal em diversas organizações internacionais. Em particular, a SPQ mantém a representação de Portugal na International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), por delegação do GRICES.
