We are Jussi and Terhi, the couple behind New Brewing Company - Uusi Oluttehdas - Nya Bryggeriet. While renovating our home on Turku, Finland in the fall of 2019, we found a huge number of different unused labels and brochures inside the floor of our old wooden house. We started researching them and found out that they belonged to a brewery that operated in Turku from 1870-1920. There was something wonderful about the discovery, downright magical. How are we able to find 100-150 years old advertising materials in our house built in 1928 and how did they end up in our floor? We have not been able to find a connection between our house and the brewery, but information about the brewery itself and its stages has been so interesting. The brewery’s dramatic twists and turns and this special discovery didn’t let us down, so without much brewing knowledge, we decided to re-establish the brewery with the same name and started this wild rebirth project. We’re at the beginning of a journey with no knowledge of the destination, but our next step is to learn how to make beer and see where this takes us. Welcome to follow our journey!
