Douglass King Seeds

www.dkseeds.com

In 1912, the company was organized by Douglass W. King and originally operated in the grain brokerage industry. After realizing the potential of the seed business Mr. King moved the company to San Antonio in 1917 and began dealing in pasture grasses, wheat, oats, rye, open-pollinated forages and cowpeas. In the 1970’s DK Seeds took its first steps into the international seed market. Through the years the company has developed many loyal customers in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Mexico, Japan, Argentina and South Africa. Many of the original associations continue today as a result of Douglass King Company consistent high quality products, service and export expertise. Then, in the mid-2000's, DK Seeds began producing a wide variety of Texas-certified native grasses for land improvement and restoration. These species were collected and researched by the Texas Native Seed group out of the Caesar Kleberg Research Institute in Texas A&M Kingsville. DK Seeds has been involved in a number of major projects including the San Antonio River Mission Reach Project, the George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas, TX, Blue Wing Solar Project and drill sites associated with the restoration in the restoration in the oil and gas industry in south Texas, and countless projects on military bases and highway right-of-ways. Most recently, our seed is going into a pipeline reclamation project that is planting 56 miles of pollinator habitat in Kennedy County. We are proud to carry on a legacy of commitment to quality, product development, integrity, and customer dedication. “In any project, all factors play a role in the success or failure, and there is no substitute for good seed. But the seed will only perform as well as the other factors will provide. That’s why we like to work with the customer on the other critical aspects from the ground floor, and in that way we typically can cut those problems off at the pass.” ~ Douglass W. King
