Disabilities Network of Eastern CT
www.dnec.orgMission The Disabilities Network of Eastern Connecticut will provide advocacy, peer support, independent living skills training, and information and referral services to individuals with disabilities and their families living in eastern Connecticut, and will work to enable individuals to live independently in the community. The Independent Living Philosophy The independent living philosophy affirms that barriers to inclusion are largely societal and attitudinal. DNEC provides services to individuals with all types of disabilities to enable them to make informed choices about how they live their lives. Our goal is integration and full inclusion of persons with disabilities into the community. Independent living centers are consumer controlled, community based and community responsive. Independent living centers provide four core services: Information and Referral, Advocacy, Peer Counseling, and Independent Living Skills Training. Individuals must live in eastern Connecticut to be eligible for these services. Areas of eligibility include New London and Windham counties, highlighted in pink on the map. Looking For Work? DNEC is an approved employment network. We are providing training to improve resume, interview skills, job search strategies and other work related issues. Please contact Brynn Hickey for more information at 860-823-1898.
